Joep Driessen

Joep Driessen
Veterinarian, Director/owner of the CowSignals® Training Company

CowSignals® trainer and consultant (Spanish, English, German, Dutch)

To introduce myself, I was born on 16 November 1964 to Dutch parents on a dairy farm in Ettelbrück, Luxembourg. After secondary school I worked first for a year on a large sheep farm. I did my military service in the medical corps. Qualified as a vet at the university in Utrecht.

I travelled a lot during my studies and picked up good English, German and Spanish. Started my career in 1995 with two years working as a vet in mixed practice. After my practical experience as a vet I started to explore the fields of communication, advisory skills and marketing. In 1997 I set up the Vetvice veterinary consultancy with Jan Hulsen.

Completed many projects in the Netherlands and abroad in the field of cattle farming, including a fertility project in Ireland, 2 3-month stints working on a farm with 14,000 cows in Saudi Arabia, Johne’s disease project in the Netherlands, healthy cows satellite project. I worked for three years as an interim product manager for a major pharmaceuticals firm to develop my marketing skills further. In 2000 we started our first CowSignals workshop. Since 1 January 2004 I have been involved full-time in my main CowSignals activity: initiating farmers and advisers in the body language of the cow.

On 1 January 2007 we celebrated 10 years since Vetvice was founded. It was also the starting shot for my new business, the CowSignals Training Company, of which I am owner-director.

The work of a CowSignals trainer is extremely varied and challenging. We work mainly with farmers, vets and all sorts of advisory experts in the agricultural sector. We are currently active in 35 countries, which gives us unique knowledge and experience of cattle farming. We are keen to share this knowledge because I notice every day that there’s an enormous need for it. The CowSignals® training courses are very practical and are greatly appreciated by our clients. That gives me a good feeling. Our training helps to improve the cow’s life and to enhance the satisfaction that the farmer derives from his work.

I also provide training in marketing and advisory skills to people and businesses in the agricultural sector. Working with groups is right up my street. As a facilitator of group processes, I try to get the best out of people and to apply that in practical situations. My strengths lie in encouraging, confronting and motivating people. Plus I am good at arranging and organising.
This combination makes me ideally suitable as a trainer/supervisor and project leader.

Since 1 June 2009 I have enjoyed working from our own CowSignals Training Centre in Bergharen.

I am also the proud father of two wonderful daughters and a son: Teuntje, Puck and Pep. They brighten the lives of myself and their mother, Annelies Pernot, every day.

I hope to meet you soon!
